Norwich Trip
Year 2, was about to start, year 1 is gone now, and we all know what that means, last year, applying for Universities, in the art and design industry.
So our class from Art and Design level 3, went up to Norwich which is one hour and half from us Cambridge to visit the Norwich University of Arts.
This University was the second University that we went to, First was Anglia Ruskin open days, and now the open days in Norwich's university.
We went by train obviously, then when we got there, we all had maps indicating where was it, luckily the University wasn't too far away, just twenty minutes by walk from the Station. It was nice to look around the city anyway, just to see what it is like, living there.
Arriving at the University:
Norwich University of the Arts (NUA) is an independent specialist arts, design and media University with a 165 year reputation for excellence.
NUA is dedicated to providing vocational, practice based courses which allow students to enter an exciting and challenging community of artists, designers and makers who share their passions and interests. Whilst the institution's history can be traced back to 1845, it is contemporary and forward thinking with industry standard facilities in its city centre campus.
Today NUA continues to thrive as an established University sector institution, with a national reputation for excellence and a strong ethos as a creative academic community.
ILLUSTRATION
The BA (Hons) Illustration course at NUA has developed a strong reputation for supporting students to become confident and distinctive professional illustrators and work in other closely linked professions. The course will enable you to produce original and thought-provoking work for a range of sectors including publishing and editorial (book and magazine illustration), advertising, corporate communications and new media.
FASHION
The BA (Hons) Fashion degree course balances its focus between creativity and the development of the technical skills needed for a range of employment opportunities within an exciting and diverse fashion industry.
The course combines conceptual and directional fashion design practices with a strong emphasis on creative pattern-cutting methods, professional garment construction techniques and couture levels of craftsmanship.
Fashion was the second floor i went to, and also the area that i am interested in doing at University. The course seamed very interesting at the Norwich University, all the dresses were beautifully made and presented, little contact cards next to dresses, loads of information that i took from the Designers, and about the course too.
The Fashion show was playing, there was some sits, so people could watch it, the show looked very professional and dedicate.
PHOTOGRAPHY
The BA (Hons) Photography degree course at NUA is a commercially driven course which provides students with the expert tuition and facilities necessary to pursue a rewarding career in professional photography. The course is renowned for its strengths in advertising, editorial and fashion photography.
Following a major investment in facilities, BA Photography at NUA is now housed in the inspirational environment of a converted 12th century monastery, which has been refurbished and equipped with state-of-the- art digital facilities and studio space.
I found the Photography department very good, not just because of the quality of the work, but because of the idea's of the students and the subject or people that they photographed.
GRAPHICS
NUA's competitive BA (Hons) Graphic Design degree course places great emphasis on supporting students to not only develop core competences in design but more importantly to be original and creative thinkers. The development of ideas is the fundamental cornerstone of the course and it is this approach that has contributed to its excellent reputation within the design industry.
Graphics was another course that i really enjoyed, the students can make a idea, or thoughts stand out in a different fun way, it feels like its more free.
FINE ART
Moving now to the opposite building, where there was Fine Art, architecture, and textiles.
Moving now to the opposite building, where there was Fine Art, architecture, and textiles.
The BA (Hons) Fine Art degree course at NUA has a strong and well established reputation and our alumni include Turner Prize nominees. Students are encouraged to push their practice through experimentation with different techniques and concepts. With access to outstanding tuition, facilities and technical support you will be encouraged to grow in confidence as an artist and creative thinker.
Before seeing the Fine Art Exhibition, i always thought Fine Art was the most dull thing in the world, but then straight away when i entered the building and i saw all these beautiful, creative works, i just formed another image in my mind, Fine art sounds all historical, and boring, but the truth is that any type of art is tricky, but nothing's dull and boring, in the art world.
I went through the architecture and it seemed good, but is just not my thing, not interested at all, and i went to see Textiles because it relates to Fashion, but to me, personally i think the course at the University isn't very good, i didn't find the works that high standard.
Then the last courses that i went to see, was Animation, Film and Moving Image Production and Games Art and Design.
The least courses that i was interested too, but they all looked very professional, the University use high standard equipment, so that the students can always be updated with new programs and so they're work are better quality.
I liked almost all the Courses at the Norwich University of Arts, but i didn't really like the city itself and I want to do something in Fashion but i got that feelings that i haven't found the right course yet, i am more like, looking for Fashion Styling and not Fashion Design.
Was a good experience, i had a brief what Universities are like, and what's studying at a University.
