A2 and Diploma Exhibition Review
Today, i went to see the exhibition from the A2 and Diploma work at Long Road.
The year 13 work, is completely different from the year 12 work, the work from the year 13 look much professional than year 12, it is understandable, because year 13 had the whole year 1 and 2 to learn different techniques, along those 2 years.
The year 13's work look much detailed as well, it seems like they have became much responsible in year 2, their work shows a different understanding and exploration, they used artist researches better, than us year 1.
I mean by this, that every single research some students did, they used the information really well on their final pieces, not just small pieces like stitch or collages, ideas from it, but the way other artist composed their work, what they used for it, how they made the work, what techniques used, and year 13 work follows much more their research, than year 12.
All of the different students work, was really pleasing to see it, loads of different ideas, put well together and every single work is just amazing.
The two students whose work i am interested in, is Holly Sondhi and Joanna Hammond, and those are situated in room F12.
I have chosen these two examples, because both students looked and explored in depth textiles and that is what i want to do in the year 2. I really like how they looked at Natural Forms from inspiration but they made beautiful garments from small ideas.
The next task was to look at different sketchbooks and list names of artist/designers that i would like to explore further.
-Alexander McQueen
-Christian Lacroix
-Julie Shackson
-James Russell Cant
-David Bailey
-Jean Paul Gaultier
-Erika Iris
The students used the artist researches that they did really well, i can see all the evidences through out the sketchbook all written, every single process, what ideas are they using, composition, how they're using, they made little experimenting samples to indicate what it would look like then a final piece to back up, all the research.
The student i picked, from outside of my specialist, was a student called Imogen Dungate, whose work i really liked.
The student chose, to explore mix media, compose mix media with pictures, books pages and other found elements. Really like her work too, around of her work theres leafs everywhere on the floor.
It was really nice to see another specialist apart from textiles, i think the idea of a "open" clean, new door is really imaginative, and where the other side says "closed" and it all dark, scary, the final work was very progressive.
The Themes i would like to explore, in year two is Textiles, and Photography if possible.
