HEALTH & SAFETY - in Public Art
I had a lesson on Health and safety, that i need to be aware when to make any public art piece of work, to not put in danger the piece itself or anyone.
- Where is it going to be?
- Size of the Public art piece
- Materials used
- shape, no pointy sides, to not hurt anyone.
- No electricity near water, so no lights.
- Sustainability
- Strengths of the materials used, depending where the piece is exposed if outside, need to think about good and bad weather.
- Installation process: how will i attache it to the proposed site? will i need a extra help? an armature?
- Size and strength
- Public lability insurance: if the piece breaks and hurts anyone.
- Using any metal, when its sun, if its outside it will reflect back out and it can hurt the eyes, make then a place less comfortable.
When to make a art Public piece, i need to think too, about what i am going to produce to not offend anyone, or hurt anyone, make the place where i am planning look good, people appreciate it. And specially whether i am debating to put the piece outside or inside.
The difference about inside is that i can use weaker materials, paints, sprays. Putting the piece outside, make me use more stronger materials , so whether its sun, raining, snowing, it doesn't get ruined.
